Alice CandorA praying mantis is the patient adversary that waits in your awareness for the moment to strike. This dream finds you in a stretch of waiting where a strike or a shift gathers its strength in the corners of your mind. You may feel the tension of a predator that does not rush, mirroring an internal or external force that gathers its strength through silence.
The movement of this dream often points to a rhythm of waiting that you are currently experiencing. While this stillness can feel like a suspension of life, it is actually a concentrated state of readiness that keeps the truth of a situation from surfacing too early. You risk missing the slow buildup of a threat if you look only toward more obvious battles. Your awareness is being tested by what remains unsaid and unacted. A sudden clash may arrive when the stillness finally breaks.
A black praying mantis deepens the sense of an approaching shadow, making the presence of this adversary feel more absolute and harder to ignore. The darkness of the symbol suggests that the source of this tension is not yet fully visible to your conscious mind.
You may find that a baby praying mantis carries a more subtle, developing quality to this internal pressure. Because the symbol is in a state of early growth, the threat or the conflict is not yet a finished force, but a nascent impulse that is just beginning to take shape in your life.
Killing a praying mantis indicates a sudden attempt to terminate the tension before it has the chance to resolve itself. By destroying the symbol, you might be prematurely silencing an important realization or an inevitable encounter, which leaves the underlying conflict unaddressed.
