Alice CandorCatching a hummingbird in a dream suggests a movement toward grasping at those moments of lightness that usually evade your reach. This impulse to capture a swiftness reveals a desire to anchor a feeling that is inherently transient, as if you are trying to turn a passing spark into a permanent flame.
The difficulty of this dream lies in the tension between your need to possess a joy and the very nature of the thing you seek. By trying to seize what is meant to move, you may find that the effort itself creates a distance between you and the grace you wish to hold. You are learning how to encounter the ephemeral without the impulse to trap it.
Your capacity to notice these quick flashes of beauty is already a part of your awareness. The dream shows you that the lightness remains yours even if it cannot be caught like a bird in the hand.
Holding a hummingbird changes the verdict of the dream from a chase to a weight, because the act of grasping transforms a visitor into a prisoner. When you feel the creature in your hands, you are experiencing the way an attempt to stabilize a fleeting emotion can actually stifle the life of that emotion. The bird becomes a heavy stillness in your palms, illustrating how the desire for permanence can arrest the very vitality you admire.

Alice CandorInterpreter interprets your dreams
The figure that keeps coming back in a dream has usually been waiting a long time to be looked at. A dream tends to bring forward the side of a life that daylight leaves out. What feels alien in it might be the part of you most in need of a hearing. Nothing has to be settled tonight. Which detail stayed with you after waking?
